The river runs by shade giving trees over and around boulders and towering rock formations which provide ideal conditions for salmon and trout fishing. The water is gin clear and the light bottom gives the river a distinctive turquoise color hardly ever seen in trout streams.

The Traful is known all over the world for the size of the fish and its technical difficulty, nonetheless when things go right it can be one of the most gratifying rivers for any accomplished angler, due to the fact that it is one of the few systems holding big rainbows, browns and landlocked salmon, which at any given time will take a dry fly, nymph or streamer.
